The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), responsible for the development of network standards, has received an interesting proposal. The author suggests a new version of the IP protocol, numbered eight. The main feature of this version is its complete compatibility with old IPv4 addresses. This makes IPv8 favorably different from the actively developed IPv6, which lacks such compatibility.
